Safe vaccination in people with mammalian meat allergy?

One of the problems for patients who are sensitised to alpha gal. mammalian meat allergy after tick bite/AGS or co-sensitised to alpha gal after tick anaphylaxis is selection of safe vaccines.

Dr Ella Sharp, Provisional Fellow, Department of Allergy & Immunology, Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick presented last week at the ASID (Australasian Society for Infectious Diseases) in Canberra.

Conclusions show; BSA-containing vaccines are probably safe (to administer in appropriate environment if very high titre alpha gal sIgE), avoid Flucelvax (made in canine kidney) and parenteral gelatine to be avoided in most alpha gal sensitised individuals*
