TIARA has had a Busy Couple of Weeks

TiARA sends a very big thank you to both Tahlia and Sarah, two of TiARA’s patient support group members who kindly gave up their Saturday morning to man an education stall at the Manly Village School Community Markets. It was great to see that a large number of community members were already aware of the correct tick killing products and techniques for the removal of a tick.

TiARA was delighted to host an afternoon tea onsite at Mona Vale Hospital last week to thank Dr Andy Ratchford (the Director of Emergency Medicine at Mona Vale District Hospital, Sydney and TiARA Committee member) and his dedicated staff who have helped countless people with tick killing and removal, tick anaphylaxis and / or mammalian meat anaphylaxis. Professor Nicholas Cowdery AM, (Co-Chair, TiARA Committee) kindly presented certificates of appreciation to the staff along with  magnifying glasses, to help with tick killing and identification. Mona Vale Hospital ED staff enjoyed discussing aspects of tick induced allergies with  Dr Stephen Ginsborg, General Practitioner and Stephen Doggett , Medical Entomologist (TiARA committee members).
