A huge thank you to the generous people with MMA and TA who donated their blood for this research which enabled a large team of world-leading scientists at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research to determine, by using the most advanced techniques, exactly where alpha gal binds to its allergy antibody and the genes in white blood cells which are instrumental in making the allergy antibody. This work in determining the shape of the human anti-α-galactosyl antibody response, helps provide a framework for future therapeutics development, not only for tick-induced allergies but for other diseases as well. Well done to the Garvan team! This research is now published in the prestigious journal, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) of the USA.
